沈廷芳生平及其著述考略

An overview of Shen Tingfang’s life and his writings

沈廷芳诗从查慎行,文从方苞,能诗善文,是桐城派的代表人物,具有重要的研究价值。然而,史料和现有一些文章对沈廷芳生平的记载存在差异。据考证,沈廷芳生于康熙四十一年(1702),卒于乾隆三十七年(1772)。畹叔、椒园均为沈廷芳的字。沈廷芳而立之年步入仕途,为官二十六载。沈廷芳一生笔耕不辍,著述颇丰,为人治学堪为后学之榜样。

Shen Tingfang was good at poems and writing;his poems originated from Zha Shenxing and his writing was taught by Fang Bao.As a representative of the Tongcheng School,Shen Tingfang is of great research value.However,there are differences between the historical data and some existing articles on his life.According to research,Shen Tingfang was born in the 41st year of Kangxi(1702)and died in the 37th year of Qianlong(1772).It verifies that he was also known as Wanshu and Jiaoyuan.He entered the official career in his thirties,serving as an official for 26 years.He wrote prolifically throughout his life and set an example for later-on learners.
