1978年1月,应美国卡特总统之邀,中国政府派石化部组建代表团访美,代表团以“中国石油公司代表团”的名义对美国石油工业进行了考察,作为代表团成员之一的李敬,详细记录了代表团在美国的活动。当时中美关系气氛融洽,双方都非常有诚意,美国石油界向中国代表团全面深入地展示了美国最前沿的石油工业技术,从中可以看出当时我国石油工业与世界先进水平的差距。分上、下两篇对李敬访美日记予以刊载,上篇刊载背景介绍及1978年1月5日至1月18日的日记、编者点评,下篇刊载1978年1月19日至1月29日的日记及编者点评、总结。

In January of 1978,invited by American president Kate,a delegation from the Ministry of Petrochemical Industry sent by Chinese government visited America,observed and studied American petroleum industry with the name of CNPC delegation.Li Jing,as one member of delegation team,recorded all activities of delegation in America.At that time,there was harmonious atmosphere between America and China,both showing sincerity to each other,and America petroleum field fully and deeply exhibited its advanced petroleum technology to Chinese delegation,and made Chinese realize the large gap betwee our oil industry and the most advanced level in the world.The visiting journal will be published in this magazine by two parts of the above and the below.The above text includes background introduction,the diaries from January 1 to January 18 in 1978,as well as commentaries of composers,while the below will publish the diaries from January 19 to 29 in 1978,coupled with commentaries and summary of editors.
