Lin Yutang’s Views on Family Folklore and the Construction of Ideal Family Relations

家庭在中国人心目中占据着极其重要的位置。中国的家庭民俗源远流长、内涵丰富。林语堂以婚姻和家庭为中心,从家庭内部分工、成员相处、家庭教育、婚姻制度等层面,对自古沿袭的家庭民俗作了重新审视和阐释,并对如何构建理想的家庭关系,着力营造和谐的夫妻关系、父母与子女的关系和婆媳关系,提出了自己的思考。

Family plays a very important role in traditional Chinese people’s life with a long history and rich connotation.Lin Yutang took marriage and family as the center to review and gave a clear explanation of marriage system,family education,family relationship,and internal household labor division.He puts forward his own thoughts on how to construct the ideal family relationship,to build the harmonious relationship between husband and wife,between parents and children,and between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
