Extracurricular reading can make students purify their minds,expand their horizons,and improve their Chinese core literacy.This paper expounds the role of extracurricular reading in Chinese teaching,analyzes the main problems existing in extracurricular reading teaching,and discusses the strategies to improve the effectiveness of extracurricular reading teaching from the aspects of expanding extracurricular reading resources,cultivating students'extracurricular reading habits,strengthening extracurricular reading supervision and guidance,changing reading teaching methods,guiding students to collect works and materials,and improving their own cultural literacy.
