Objective:To explore whether there is an implicit self-positivity bias in information processing in college students with high scores of trait anxiety. Methods:Fifty college students with high trait anxiety[the T score of Trait Anxiety Inventory(T-AI)>60,the T score of Trait Depression Scale(T-DEP)<60]and 50cases with low trait anxiety[the T scores of T-AI and T-DEP<60]were selected. The two groups completed the adjective categorization task under other or self primed conditions by using the supraliminal attitude-prime paradigm, and the responses of the two groups were compared. Results:The interaction effects between primed conditions and emotional words in both groups were significant(Ps<0.001).The high trait anxiety group responded faster to the words within the self-positive bias than to the words outside. The low trait anxiety group responded faster to the words within the bias than to the words outwith the bias. Conclusion:There is an implicit self-positive bias in the information processing in college students with high trait anxiety, which is probably caused by the avoidance of threat stimuli(words outwith the self-positivity bias)by anxious individuals in the later stage of information processing.
