South Africa’s natural environment and policy conditions are more suitable for the development of aquaculture industry.In recent years,the aquaculture output in South Africa has been increasing year by year and showing a high development potential.South Africa is one of the main fishery production countries in Africa.We described the current situation of aquaculture in South Africa,the main species and mode of aquaculture and the promotion of aquaculture technology.Then,the challenges in the development of aquaculture in South Africa and the ideas for further development were summarized and analyzed.
