WEI Tai’s Poetics Reflected in Notes on Poetry during Linhan Seclusion

《临汉隐居诗话》重点体现了魏泰主“优柔感讽”“余味”的诗学理论,强调诗歌应温柔敦厚地表达作者的观点,并嚼之有余味。此外,魏泰认为诗歌立意应避免与古人重复并高于古人。因此,他对西昆体、江西诗派强调用典的创作方法表示不满,批评了滥用奇字僻典、堆砌典故等过度追求形式美的做法,并针对用典方法提出了意见,在宋代诗歌批评史上有所建树。

WEI Tai’s Notes on Poetry during Linhan Seclusion(Notes)is the embodiment his poetics,focusing on the employment of sentimental passion and irony,as well as a placid aftertaste.WEI believes in a gentle and euphemistic presentation,leaving a margin for aftertaste reflection.He emphasizes an avoidance and surpassing over ancestors’poetic sensations.Therefore,he is dissatisfied with an overemphasis on literary quotations in Xikung Style and Jiangxi School.He criticizes their excessive pursuit for structural beauty,odd words,and piles of allusions,initiating proper uses of literary quotations and poetic syntax.In addition,WEI Tai also illustrates poetic conceptions and readers’differentiated acceptances.Notes on Poetry during Linhan Seclusion has made great achievements in poetry criticism in Song Dynasty.
