Girls from Mountain Country:Yunnan Women's Battlefield Service Team in the Period of Anti-Japanese War

云南妇女战地服务团始建于1937年9月初,前后坚持服务战场5年余,除政治宣传、民众动员、伤兵护理等日常工作外,还参加了台儿庄战役的火线服务,筹建难童教养院照顾战争遗孤。服务团的组建及出征,表明抗战时期边疆少数民族加强了对国家的认同,发挥了稳定军心、宣传云南军队的作用,增进了内地人民对西南边疆的认识和了解,鼓舞了西南地区各族人民抗战建国的决心和勇气。

The Yunnan Women's Battlefield Service Team was set up in Sep.1937,and served the battlefield for more than 5 years,including political propaganda,mass mobilization,nursing and care of wounded soldiers,frontline service in the Taier Zhuang Campaign,and building adoption center to take care of homeless children in the war The establishment of the team and its service showed that the Central Government strengthened its control of the southwest borderland,and the minorities in the southwest borderland enhanced the recognition to the Central Government during the Anti-Japanese War period;and also played a role in stabilizing the morale of the troops,and conducting propaganda of the Yunnan troops,enhancing the recognition to the southwest borderland for the people,inspiring the determination and encouragement of the minorities in the southwest borderland to resist against Japanese invasion and build country of China.
