Chinese Literature Translation and Chinese Studies in the Netherlands:From the Early Twentieth Century to the Late 1950s

20世纪20年代至50年代末,中国文学翻译和研究在荷兰呈增长趋势,与19世纪相比,出现了一些新的特点和动向。本文梳理了这段时期荷兰的中国文学翻译的成就、特点,以及中国语言文学研究在以莱顿大学和乌特勒支大学为代表的荷兰高等教育体系中逐步形成的谱系。在勾勒这两个面向的发展脉络的同时,本文重点关注驱动这些新发展背后的政治经济动因。

This paper examines new translations of Chinese literature in the Netherlands from the early twentieth century to the end of 1950s,as well as the trajectories of Dutch sinology of Chinese literature during these decades.This paper also focuses on the institutionalization of Chinese studies in Dutch universities,represented by Leiden University and Utrecht University at this time,with the hope to illuminate the social impetus behind new movements of Dutch sinology.
