During the process of skeletal muscle contraction,a variety of myometabolites can be released. These small molecules can regulate the activities of animals by means of autocrine, paracrine and endocrine.Alpha-ketoglutaric acid(AKG)is a known important myometabolites, plays an important role in regulating muscle development and bone growth and cell metabolism,as well as strengthening the body's immunity and inducing the renewal and differentiation of stem cells. This article summarizes the research progress in the biological function and molecular mechanism of AKG,and provides a basis for further broadening the application of AKG in livestock and poultry production and human clinical medicine.
