An analysis of the article Chinese Books and Libraries published by the American botanist Walter Tennyson Swingle at the ALA Annual Conference in 1917 and his personal files can clarify the origin,implementation,and effectiveness of the large-scale Chinese literature search strategy of the Library of Congress in the early 20 th century.This cross-border scholar s library collection construction and Chinese cultural promotion ideas are still forward-looking today.Thanks to the open access resources of the University of Miami Library digital project,it reveals a dusty historical material through digital humanities information.It is expected that more related information will be concerned,mined and studied by domestic scholars.
