Central Plain, with Henan province as its center, has profound Central Plain culture,Yellow River culture, and Yellow River civilization.Central Plain studies will serve as Henan province’s exploration in the construction of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. To meet the historical requirement,Central Plain studies should undertake the historical mission of constructing knowledge system. The four subject areas——Yanhuang studies,Song studies,Yellow River studies, and Luoyang studies, have together constituted the“multiple pillars”of Central Plain studies. The three core methods for the study of Central Plain studies are respectively how to control the reality with dialectical materialism and historical materialism, how to support self-confidence with our consideration in history, philosophy, and culture, and how to realize the modernization of governance system and governance capability with system analysis. We should carefully distinguish the essence from the dregs, enhance openness and inclusiveness, and locate the position of Central Plain studies in Chinese civilization and the world civilization. We should also emphasize the study of problems respectively belonging to region, basin, nation, and country, make research on the root progenitor, root affinity and root system, and pursue the solution of problems like“the body of Tao”and“the use of Tao”.In the process,we will try to become the creator of Chinese scholarship and the contributor to world scholarship.
