养马岛与“象岛”

Yangma Island and the Elephant Island

养马岛四面环水,丘陵起伏,草木葱茏,海光山色,秀丽如画。岛子的东面有一座小岛,形似一头大象饮水,故称象岛。这象岛和秦始皇还有一段渊源呢。话说秦始皇为寻长生不老药与巩固疆土,曾三次东巡。在他东巡时到了养马岛。始皇帝在陆上远望,只见此岛虽离岸不远,却绿意葱茏,霞光跳荡。始皇帝龙心大悦,此时他正命人举国上下遴选养马之地,建立“厩苑”,而眼前的岛不正是自己梦寐以求的养马之地么?当晚便在岛上安营扎寨,夜宿于此。

Surrounded by water in all directions,Yangma Island features undulating hills and verdant plants with picturesque coastal and mountainous sceneries.East to the island there is a small island shaped like an elephant that is drinking water.Therefore,it is also called the Elephant Island,which has a connection with Emperor Qin Shihuang.
