摘要 基于功能语法与视觉语法理论,采用定性与定量相结合的研究方法,探讨美国凯迪克获奖绘本《三只小猪》中的文本和图像是如何创造意义的。研究结果表明,《三只小猪》在文本写作和图像呈现上都极符合儿童早期语言发展的需要:其文本的物质过程和行为过程占比较高,大量使用陈述语气和祈使语气,叙述性与互动性较强;图像较多呈现反应过程和言语/心理过程,且多为正面介入的接触类图像;文本和图像两种符号模态共同传达意义时在概念功能、人际功能以及语篇功能三个层面上相互增强,相辅相成,具有双向意义投射关系。 This paper explores the mechanism of meaning creation of the text and image in The Three Pigs,an outstanding illustrated juvenile book that won the Caldecott award.The research is carried out on the basis of functional grammar and visual grammar,adopting the qualitative and quantitative methods.The result shows that the text and image of the book satisfy the needs of children’s early language development.The text is characterized by the high percentage of material process and behavioral process,and the frequently used declarative and imperative moods.The reaction process,speech process and mental process are reflected through visual images.The two modes of text and image complement each other in terms of ideational,interpersonal and textual functions.
