Who Created ShaFei's Diary?--An Analysis of the Narrator's Image in The Diary of Lady ShaFei

丁玲的《莎菲女士的日记》塑造了具备多重视角的叙述人形象。叙述人站在日记背后对莎菲在爱情中的软弱、生活中的不幸进行思考,是小说中体现理性精神、具有独立思考能力的重要形象。基于“日记”的第一人称写作形式,叙述人以“我”的口吻与莎菲构成同一形象的不同分身。丁玲正是通过塑造了叙述人的形象使小说超越一般的爱情主题,反映出“日记”形式对建构“五四”时期个体对自我、情感的理性认识起到的作用。而这两个形象身上的不同特质在小说文本中也时常造成人物间的矛盾,使情节与叙事在互渗过程中构成故事的多重性效果,为表现“五四”时期复杂的思想“启蒙”历程提供了一种可写的范式。

There is a narrator in The Diary of Lady Shafei whose image is often overlooked.In fact,this image exists in the novel and bears an important narrative function.It has multiple perspectives standing behind Lady Shafei’s diary,ponders ShaFei’s weakness in love and misfortune in life,thus becoming an important figure with rational spirit and independent thinking ability in the novel.With the use of First Person narrative,the narrator and Sophie from different parts of the same image in the tone of“I”,this is in part due to the the function of the Journal Genre.In this sense,it is by creating the image of the narrator that the novel transcends general theme of love,reflecting the importance of“Diary”form in the“May 4th”period to present the constructive function of rational spirit to individual ego and emotion.And the different characteristics of these two images often appear contradictions in the novel text,in the process of the interpenetration of plot and narrative constitute the multiple effects of the story,which provides a writable paradigm for the expression of the complex ideological“Enlightenment”process in the“May 4th”period.
