The Rise of Truthmaker Theory and its Contemporary Criticism: A Factual Constructivism Solution to the Gettier Problem

使真者理论是分析形而上学家解释真理问题的中心原则,它不仅为解释命题为何为真提供本体论地基,同时也对解决盖梯尔问题提供新思路。虽然使真者理论在当代分析哲学中是一个成熟的理论体系,但仍然有着深层问题,需要予以深入批评。这种批评的结果将导致,对使真者理论的理论内核进行改造,将事实视为认识论概念而非本体论概念,用事实建构论取代事实本体论,全面批判使真者理论。同时,事实建构论也为盖梯尔问题的解决提供更有效、合理的方案。

Truthmaker theory has become a central principle for realists’ interpretation of truth. It not only provides an ontological ground for true proposition but also provides ideas to solve the Gettier problem. But Truthmaker theory still has deep-seated problems and needs to be criticized. If we adopt factual constructivism, we can fully criticize Truthmaker theory and find effective solutions to the Gettier problem.
