《论语》英译文化词翻译探析——以辜鸿铭和理雅各版本为例

Analysis on the Translation of English Translation of"The Analects"——Taking GU Hong-ming and Legge’s Versions as Examples

《论语》作为儒家经典巨著,是中华优秀传统文化的活源泉。选取辜鸿铭和理雅各的《论语》英译本作为研究对象,在翻译时采用了对比分析的研究方法,从《论语》中文化负载词入手分析,指出文化典籍的翻译是一个综合、多方考量的问题,要把译文和译本看作整体和局部的关系,一分为二地看待。针对具体问题进行分析,对于文化词语的翻译应采取异化加注释的翻译方法。同时,根据弗米尔的目的论,得出对于儒学及《论语》传播的受众不同,可以采取多个不同译本供各类儒学爱好者参考。

As a Confucian classic,"The Analects"is a living source of Chinese excellent traditional culture.The English translation of"The Analects"by GU Hong-ming and Legge was selected as the research object,and the research method of comparative analysis was adopted in the translation,starting with the analysis of culturally loaded words in"The Analects",pointing out that the translation of cultural classics is a comprehensive and multi-considered approach The problem is to treat the translation and the translation as the relationship between the whole and the part,and treat them in two.Analyze specific problems,and adopt the translation method of foreignization and annotation for the translation of cultural words.At the same time,according to Vermeer’s teleology,it is concluded that for the different audiences of Confucianism and the dissemination of"The Analects",many different translations can be adopted for the reference of various Confucianism lovers.
