南海问题所涉历史依据英文研究述评

A Review of English Literature on Historical Evidence of South China Sea Issue

近三十年来学术界有关南海历史权属的英文研究成果表明,以比尔·海顿、阮雅等为代表的部分欧美和东南亚学者通过大量著述掌握了解释南海诸岛主权归属和海洋历史性权利等的历史依据的话语权,但他们的研究歧见颇多、漏洞明显,混淆南海岛礁权属的历史真相,对我国南海权益维护产生不利影响。中国学者发表的关于这一议题的英文研究成果较为有限,在国际上未能积极有效地发挥正本清源的作用。鉴于此,中国历史学者应在南海研究中担负更多责任,通过推动历史学视域下南海岛屿主权归属研究框架的构建、中外文史料整理与翻译、中国史学研究成果的国际化等来促进对南海诸岛主权归属和海洋历史性权利的规范化研究。

This article makes a thorough review of English research on the historical ownership of the South China Sea in the last thirty years,and shows that some Western and Southeast Asian scholars represented by Bill Hayton and Nguyen Nha have dominated in the explanation of such a topic with a mass of publications.However,bias and mistakes in their research have brought confusion to the real history of the South China Sea,and have exerted a negative impact on safeguarding our national rights in the South China Sea.By contrast,the number of relevant English research published by Chinese scholars is relatively limited to clarify the historical fact.Hence,Chinese scholars are supposed to be more active in international research on the South China Sea.With efforts to promote the construction of a research framework on the ownership of the South China Sea from the historical perspective,to promote the collection and translation of historical literature both in Chinese and English,and to promote the internationalization of related historical research in Chinese,the development with more reasonable and standardized research on the history of South China Sea could be achieved.
