Water extraction method was applied to extract natural flavonoids from broadleaf holly leaf and scutellaria baicalensis.Cotton knitted fabrics were dyed with complex of the above-mentioned two natural flavonoids extractions blended in proportion.Absorption spectrum of different complex, the K/S value and UPF of dyed samples were both measured to optimize the blending ratio. The effect of dyeing process of natural flavonoids complex in best ratio, such as dyeing temperature and duration, amount of sodium chloride and color fixing agent on the anti-ultraviolet properties were analyzed. The results show that strong absorption of UV radiation ranging for280 to 400 nm were observed for natural flavonoids complex blended in different ratio and the best blend ratio was2∶8.The dyeing process of cotton knitted fabrics with 2∶8 complex was optimized as follows:dyeing at 80℃for 90 minutes in the presence of 20 g/L sodium chloride, and the dyed fabrics samples showed anti-ultraviolet properties.Aldehyde-free fixing agent DM-2518 was used to enhance the laundering durability. The fixed samples showed acceptable anti-ultraviolet for application after 30 soap washing cycles.
