青浦古城墙考略

A Study on the Ancient City Wall of Qingpu

青浦古城墙,始建于明万历二年(1574年),至1958年被拆除,历经近400年历史。本文简述了青浦古城墙营建和历次修缮的历史,考证了城砖的使用与质量控制以及城墙营建和维护经费之来源,并分析了古城墙的军事地位与价值。

The ancient city wall of Qingpu has a history of nearly 400 years from when it was first built in the 2 nd year of Wanli Period of the Ming dynasty( 1574) to when it was demolished in 1958. This paper briefly describes the history of the construction and repair of the ancient city wall of Qingpu,studies the use and quality control of the bricks and the source of funds for the construction and maintenance of the city wall through textual research. It also makes an analysis to the military status and value of the ancient city wall.
