The Visual Narrative Strategy and Ethical Structure of Broken Chapter

《断章》的视觉叙事综合运用了画本叙述和文本叙述两种方式。在运用画本叙事中,作者将自然人文物像在平面中进行了类似于中国传统山水画的设置和安排。在文本叙述中,作者通过可视性动词和代词的重复,构筑了叙述的连续性。《断章》通过视线移动构筑了一个双向逐次相套的视觉叙述结构和视觉主体不断析出的立体空间,通过多层次空间的设计创造了历史景深。《断章》运用顶针和反复修辞,创造了视觉上的时空循环和追逐;通过意象的景观化,屏蔽了声音,创造了寂静的意境;通过虚词和修饰语的省略,祛除叙述的戏剧性,压制了情感,体现了洗涤红尘、简单拙朴的佛道精神。《断章》的视觉符号文本,呈现出浓厚的古典主义倾向。内在的儒家争霸意识和外在的清静无为的道家哲学,以及知识分子的人生感怀,形成了其叙述的伦理构造。

There’re basically two ways of visual narrative used in the creation of Broken Chapter:painting narrative and textual narrative.With the skills of painting narrative,the natural and humanistic images have been arranged in the narrative plane through a way similar to the setting and arrangement of traditional Chinese landscape painting.While in textual narrative,the poet constructs the continuity of narration through the repetition of visible verbs and pronouns.In Broken Chapter,with the change of the sightline,a two-way and successive visual narrative structure and a three-dimensional space in which the visual subject is continuously separated out have been constructed,and the historical vistas has been created through the design of multi-level space too.The use of anadiplosis and repetition in Broken Chapter brings about a visual cycle of time and space,and in the landscaping of images,the sound is dimished and a silent artistic conception is created.Besides,the omission of function words and modifiers dispels the dramatization of narration,so that the emotions are suppressed while the Buddhist and Taoist spirit ofkeeping away from the madding crowd and pursuing simplicity has been perceived here.In addition,the text of visual symbols in Broken Chapter shows a strong tendency of classicism.The internal Confucian consciousness of competing for supremacy,the external Taoist philosophy of quietness and inaction,and the intellectuals'contemplation of life mix together in the narration to lay a basis for the formation of ethical structure.
