彭斯田园诗呈现了浪漫主义的多重面相,着意于维系苏格兰本土文化,倾慕乐园情怀,哀悼宗法社会,彰显乡野情欲,批判资本主义现代性。1949至1966年期间,经国内著名学者与译者多次译介,彭斯田园诗被重构成时新的话语,以迎合新时代革命意识形态的需要。

Robert Burns’s pastoral poems present to us Janus face of Romanticism, inclining to retain Scottish indigenous culture, endowed with longing for arcadia, lamenting the loss of patriarchal society, fully expressing rustical eroticism and criticizing capitalistic modernity. During the period from 1949 to 1966 in China, Robert Burns was repeatedly translated by the well-known shcolars and translators utill his pastoral poetry was reconstructed new discourses which meet the ideologocal and revolutionary needs for a new era.
