In Primeval and Other Times,Olga Tokarczuk explores and recounts the world.The novel adopts a unique“constellation”narrative structure.Through coupling,proliferation and intertextuality,its narration forms a dialectical relationship between independence and unity.Moreover,the novel takes a“gentle”approach in a lithe style.Its poetic thinking illuminates scientific thinking,emphasizes the significance of non-linearity,instability and disorder,and offers a profound poetics of chaos.Primeval and Other Times is a pioneering stylistic experiment,which demonstrates the“encyclopedic”border crossing that characterizes Tokarczuk’s world-exploring novels.
