Pediatric behavioral audiometry is a subjective hearing test which commonly used in children under 6 years old.This test can truly reflect the whole function of the subject’s auditory pathway.Therefore,it is the gold standard for quantitative detection of hearing in infants.This technology is a practical technique with great clinical application value.It is related to electrophysiological audiometry,but they cannot be replaced by each other.Pediatric behavioral audiometry includes behavioral observative audiometry,visual reinforcement audiometry and play audiometry,which are applicable for infants of different age groups.This article reviews the classification,the overview,the detection methods,the advantages and disadvantages,and the development trends of pediatric behavioral audiometry,especially the subjects’applicable age,the test principle,the method,and its advantages and limitations.
