VoLTE Parameter Optimization for Maximum Coverage in Rural Region

农村地区的覆盖质量是VoLTE商用面临的关键问题。根据链路预算,VoLTE与CDMA具有16 dB的覆盖差距,通过对比RLC分段、TTI Bundling等VoLTE上行覆盖增强技术的优缺点,并根据实测结果对比分析各种参数设置对用户感知及覆盖的影响,提出了实现农村VoLTE覆盖最大化的RLC分段、TTI Bundling及PDCP丢弃定时器设置。实测表明,优化后VoLTE覆盖仅为CDMA的90%,需进一步补点完善覆盖。

The coverage quality in rural region is the key issue for VoLTE commercialization. According to the link budgets, the coverage gap between CDMA and VoLTE is 16 dB. Through analyzing the pros and cons of VoLTE uplink coverage enhancement technologies such as the RLC segment, TTI bundling and comparing the impact of different parameter settings on user perception and coverage based on actual measurement results, this paper proposes the settings of RLC segment, TTI bundling and PDCP discard timer to maximize the rural VoLTE coverage. The test results also indicate that the optimized VoLTE coverage only reaches 90% of CDMA and more LTE sites are needed to improve the coverage.
