A Story in the Clouds,a long novel about the earthquake in Wenchuan County,has been published by Alai,a Tibetan writer,for ten years.The writing of smell is a unique sight in the novel and an important narrative strategy for Alai's structure.As a narrative point of view,olfactory writing not only promotes the development of the plot,but also implies the invisible opposition between people and culture.Through olfactory narration,Alai not only subverts the traditional experience of writing and aesthetic appreciation,which is only related to hearing and sight,but also provides a quiet text space to induce readers to think deeply about life and nature.
