摘要
预设被看作两个命题之间的关系,也叫“前提”或“先设”。虽然很多学者对预设的功能进行研究,但较少研究英语通用语语境下学术语篇中预设的语用功能。本研究以一次学术研讨会议(Gender equality)为例,采用个案研究的方法,从语用角度分析不同说话者话语中的预设现象,旨在通过准确地解读说话者的话语意义来分析其预设功能。研究发现,该学术研讨语篇中的预设具有五类语用功能经济性和高效性、增强话语说服力、突出信息焦点、语篇组织功能(衔接功能和连贯功能)以及避免因文化差异而产生的交际障碍。本研究有助于对话者在英语通用语语境下准确解读和恰当使用预设,以促进交际的成功。
Presupposition is seen as the relationship between two propositions,also known as the“premise”or“presupposition”.Although many scholars have studied the functions of presupposition,few of them have studied the pragmatic functions of presupposition in English academic seminar discourse under ELF contexts.Taking an English academic seminar—Gender equality as example,the study adopts the method of case study to analyze the presupposition in the discourse of different speakers from the perspective of pragmatics,aiming at analyzing the function of presuppositions by accurately interpreting the discourse meaning of speaker.It is found that the presuppositions in the academic seminar discourse have five pragmatic functions:economy and efficiency,enhancing the persuasion of discourse,highlighting the focus of information,discourse organization(cohesion and coherence),and avoiding communication barriers caused by cultural differences.The study will be helpful for interlocutors to interpret and use presuppositions correctly under ELF contexts,so as to promote the success of communication.
