Analysis on tagging rules of suffix in digital object identifier

【目的】分析数字对象唯一标识符(Digital Object Identifier,DOI)后缀的组成特点,分析不同DOI编码组成方式的优、缺点。【方法】选取Springer、Wiley和Elsevier出版社旗下期刊和中华医学会杂志社旗下期刊为样本,分析不同出版社出版的科技论文的DOI编码组成特点。【结果】国外期刊论文DOI编码后缀多为期刊的ISSN、出版年、期、论文流水号或在刊名后接出版的年、期、论文流水号,DOI后缀中含有期刊名称缩写,具有较强的可读性;2020年3月以前中华医学会系列杂志论文DOI后缀多为期刊的ISSN、出版年、期、论文流水号,2020年3月以后其DOI后缀更改为稿号,在DOI编码中仅能识别出期刊的CN号和投稿日期,其优点是可以满足在编排规范一致的情况下,网上优先发表的论文与纸刊论文具有相同的DOI,从而加快论文的数字化传播速度。【结论】目前,DOI后缀组成无统一标准,我国各出版单位应联合制定统一标准,增强DOI的标识性、易读性,制定适合我国国情的DOI后缀组成方式。

[Purposes]This paper aims to analyze the composition characteristics of digital object identifier( DOI) suffix,and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different DOI encoding methods. [Methods]We selected the journals from Springer,Wiley,Elsevier,and Chinese Medical Association Publishing House as samples to analyze the characteristics of DOI coding compositions in scientific articles from different publishing houses. [Findings]The suffixes of DOI codes of foreign journal papers are mostly composed of ISSN,publication year,period,and serial number of the article,or year,period,and serial number of the article followed by the journal name. Before March 2020,the DOI suffix of the papers published in Chinese Medical Association series journals is mostly composed of ISSN,publication year,issue,and serial number of the article. After changing the manuscript number as the DOI suffix in March 2020,only the CN number of the journal and submission date can be identified from the DOI code,but its advantage is that it can meet the requirement that the articles first published on the internet have the same DOI as the printed articles when the layout specifications are consistent,increasing the speed of digital dissemination of articles. [Conclusions]At present,there is no unified standard for the composition of DOI suffixes. All publishers in China should jointly formulate unified standards to increase the identity and legibility of DOI,and formulate a DOI suffix composition method that is suitable for our national conditions.
