Media Practice and Social Action of“Youth Anti Epidemic Guard Team”:A Study on the Network Ethnography of a Village in Hubei Province

在媒介化社会语境下,媒介科技无处不在,已浸入到传统乡村社会。聚焦湖北武汉乡村“青年抗疫守卫队”的防疫工作,以青年使用手机微信群、抖音、广播及宣传纸等媒介所展开各种媒介实践与社会行动为经验材料,探讨行动主体、媒介文化与国家社会三者之间的动态复杂关系的研究发现,青年作为乡村抗疫行动主体,形塑了新农人身份认同与国家共同体想象。新旧媒介并非相互拒斥,而是与人共同交融编织出一种乡村媒介生态网。媒介文化嵌入在乡村社会、文化、政治与经济的脉络中。

In the context of a media society,media technology is ubiquitous and has been immersed in traditional rural society.This article adopts online ethnography research methods to focus on the epidemic prevention work of the“Youth Anti-epidemic Guards”in the rural areas of Wuhan,Hubei.It uses empirical materials of various media practices and social actions carried out by young people using mobile phone WeChat groups,Tiktok,broadcasting,and promotional papers to explore the dynamic and complex relationships among the actors,media culture,and national society.The study found that youth,as the main body of anti-epidemic actions in rural areas,shaped the identity of the new farmers and the imagination of the national community.The old and new media do not reject each other,but blend together to weave a“rural media ecological network”.Media culture is embedded in the context of rural society,culture,politics and economy.
