聚焦戏剧理论家陈瘦竹对于中国现代文学的贡献,应用文学史研究和历史文献学研究的方法,对其1940年代以前的著译进行了揭示、考释和研究。在1930年代,青年陈瘦竹已有短篇、中篇小说、剧本、文学及戏剧评论、外国文学及戏剧介绍、翻译和评论等诸多著译形式的作品问世,成为民国文坛上工于多体裁的作家。抗战题材的短篇小说“三人行”与其他知名作家的作品一起,被译成英文,结集由英、美著名大学出版社出版,更赢得了国际化影响。陈瘦竹早期著译的内容取向多种多样,其中以家国情怀主导下的变革救亡取向、启蒙意识主导下的文化批判取向、以世界文化为参照的学术研究取向最为显著。他是现代文学史上卓有成就的乡土文学家,也是独树一帜的剧作家、翻译家、文学评论家,他将个体作家在著译内容和形式上的丰富性拓展到了极致,在现代文学史上形成了一道独特的景观。

Using the methods of literary history and historical documents,the paper examines Chen Shouzhu’s works and translations produced before 1940.In the 1930s,the young Chen Shouzhu had published short-stories,novellas,drama scripts,essays,literary&drama critical writings,translations and introductions of foreign literature and drama criticism and many other forms of translations,and so he became a multi-genre writer in the period of the Republic of China.His anti-war short story“Three Men”with other well-known writers’fiction have been translated into English and published by famous university presses in Britain and the United States,and have won international Reputation.Chen Shouzhu’s early works have a variety of content orientations,among which the political orientation dominated by the salvation consciousness,the cultural orientation dominated by the Enlightenment trend,and the academic orientation based on the world culture are the most significant.He is not only an outstanding folk writer in the history of Chinese modern literature,but also a unique dramatist,translator,and literary critic.He has extended the richness of the content and form of individual writer to the extreme,and,therefore displayed in the history of modern literature a unique scene.
