Florence Nightingale is well known as the heroine of the Crimean War(1854-1856)and the major founder of the modern profession of nursing.This article aims to relate how the war correspondent’s no-holds-barred reportage prompted the British government to send Florence Nightingale to the wartime hospital,and Nightingale’s experiences of that war.Nightingale’s most important reforming efforts,which included nursing education,army improvement,and sanitary reform,in Britain,would postdate the Crimean War.
