The Fable of“Words”——On Xu Yigua’s novella“the west wind’s words”

须一瓜的中篇小说《西风的话》围绕凤凰岛上的一起凶杀案展开叙事,但叙述的重点并非呈现案件经过、揭示案件真相,而在于建构这次事件真相的言说过程。在这一过程中,叙述者以冷静、克制的语调,运用娴熟的叙事技巧,呈现了言说主体、言说行为、言说情境与言说对象之间的复杂关系,完成了对“话”的寓言化表现,有效地展示了语言的社会特性,同时也深刻地揭示了人的言说困境。

Xu Yigua’s novella“the west wind’s words”narrates a murder case on Phoenix Island.With the help of this incident which has gone beyond the normal track of life,it has gained a new perspective of observation.However,the focus of narration is not to present the process of the case and reveal the truth of the case,but to construct the speaking process of the truth.In this process,the narrator,with a calm and restrained tone and skillful narrative skills,presents the complex relationship between the speaker,the speaker’s behavior,the situation of speech and the object of speech,and completes the allegorical expression of“Words”,which effectively demonstrates the social characteristics of language and profoundly reveals the dilemma of human speech.
