摘要
英国著名女作家安吉拉·卡特于1969年获得毛姆奖,并被《时代》周刊评为"20世纪最杰出的作家之一"。短篇小说集《染血之室》为卡特改编的童话故事集,情节来源于小红帽、美女与野兽、白雪公主等经典童话故事,改写后的童话不再是儿童读物,而是女性主义读物。《染血之室》中多个故事出现了"房子"意象,每个故事里的"房子"在外形上看似大相径庭,但作者却给这些"房子"赋予了相似的意义。"房子"的象征意义在作品中经历了从"牢笼"到"心房"再到"乐园"的蜕变,而这种转变正是女性主义意识颠覆父权的写照。
Angela Carter,a famous British female writer,won the Somerset Maugham Award in 1969 and was named as one of the greatest writers in the 20 th century by The Times.The short story collection The Bloody Chamber is Carter’s adaption of fairy tales based on the classic fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood,Beauty and Beast,Snow White.The adapted fairy tale is no longer a children’s book,but a feminist one.The image of"house"appears in several short stories of The Bloody Chamber.The"house"in each story looks very different in appearance,but the author endows them with similar meaning.The symbolic meaning of the"house"changes from"cage","the heart chamber"to"paradise".This variation is the product of subverting patriarchy by feminist consciousness.
