据传,在昆嵛山烟霞洞神清观原址的西面,也就是现在神清观西院,曾经有一株白果树,树龄在千年以上,高40多米,其主干最少也有六人合抱,远远望去,绿盖耸天,挺拔壮美。清朝周正在其《神清观烟霞洞游记》中记载道:"神清宫殿宇数区,依岩迤冈,夹阶古柏三株皆数围,上拂云。西偏鸭脚树一株,合有三柏之围,高如之,枝覆数亩。"文中所说的鸭脚树,也叫公孙树。
