The development of competitive Wushu enables the world to see the body art from the east. However, competitive Wushu for the purpose of competition maximizes the potential of individual sports and strives for excellent performance. Its high level, overload and outstanding competitiveness are far from the traditional Wushu which requires both the integrity and ability of practitioners and the cultivation of both physical and mental forms. This paper reviews the Taoist understanding of the body, and discusses the contemporary implication of the Taoist thought of taking qi as the foundation, life as the standard, and doing subtraction.Under the influence of Taoist body view,Wushu techniques pay attention to the subtlety, artistic conception and charm, and Wushu theory is philosophical.Martial artists understand life through practicing Wushu and Ming boxing, and then transcend physical activities to achieve the ideal of personality, showing the Taoist body philosophy of freedom and freedom and showing another side of contemporary competitive Wushu.
