Library philosophy provides epistemological support for library practice.The inquiry of library philosophy can be carried out along the two dimensions of library development history and library spirit of different times.The practice of Chinese library goes along the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Adhering to the essence of Chinese excellent traditional culture,reasonably absorbing foreign advanced library thoughts,and interpreting the significance of library existence to social development in the evolutionof knowledge constitute the history and logic of Chinese library development in the 70 years since the founding of the people’s Republic of China.In the process of the reform and transformation of the library in today’s society and the realization of the global library vision,the library philosophy of practical materialism will play a very important role the universal library philosophy and become the mainstay.
