The Development and Applications of the Process Evaluation Scale for English Teaching

课堂教学的过程评价对教与学的意义重大,但现行的常用评价工具在公平性、可靠性、有效性或导向性方面并不理想。通过文献分析和专家访谈,研发了一套简便实用的中学英语课堂教学过程评价量表。该量表涵盖了教学目标、教学内容、教学过程、教学手段、检测反馈和综合评判6个维度。初步的应用结果表明,该量表在诊断初中英语课堂教学中的强项和弱项等方面,具有良好的应用价值,可以为教师进一步改进教与学提供精准信息。

The process evaluation of classroom teaching plays an important role in teaching and learning.The typical evaluation tools currently used in most classrooms,however,do not meet expectations in terms of fairness,reliability,and consequent validity.This paper presents a simple and convenient teaching process evaluation scale developed based on literature review and experts interview.This teaching process evaluation scale consists of six subdomains,namely teaching and learning objectives,contents,process,methods,assessment,and overall evaluation.A primary study indicates that this scale is psychometrically sound in conducting English teaching process evaluation.Teachers can easily get fair,reliable and valid evaluation results about their strengths and weaknesses,which is very helpful in improving teaching and learning efficiency.
