五四时期既是近代中国探求现代化道路的重要时期,也是传统与现代之争走向高潮的时期。在启蒙与救亡双重主题的影响下,儒学被当作“封建专制”的化身成为众矢之的。陈独秀与李大钊都是五四时期新文化阵营的领军人物,但其对儒学的批判与评说却同中有异、异中有同。深刻揭示双方的统一性和差异性,既有助于展现新文化阵营“和而不同”的精神,也有助于全面正确地理解和认识新文化运动。

The May Fourth Movement period is an important one for modern China to explore the path of modernization,and it is also the period when the struggle between tradition and modernity reaches its climax..Under the influence of the dual themes of enlightenment and national salvation,Confucianism was regarded as the embodiment of“feudal autocracy”and became the target of public criticism.Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao were the leading figures in the new culture camp during the May Fourth Movement,but their criticism and comments on Confucianism share both similarities and differences at the same time.To reveal the unity and difference of Confucianism views between them is helpful to show the spirit of“harmony in diversity"in the new culture camp,and also helps us to understand the New Culture Movement in a comprehensive and correct way.
