The Saint Bernard’s Chapel in Argentina is a wonderful design,which takes advantage of the natural elements to perfectly show the religiousness of the building under limited conditions.This paper uses the concept of element in architecture as link,makes a classified discussion on the application method of light element,and emphatically analyzes the close relationship between Saint Bernard’s Chapel and light from the aspects of generation of form,laying technique and religious language,etc.,so as to present a new design thought and interpretation way of church building.At the same time,this paper also reveals the architect’s motif in the design of Saint Bernard’s Chapel—all for light.
