缪天瑞是20世纪中国律学研究的开拓者之一。缪天瑞在音乐教育和创办刊物、编纂辞书、编译西方音乐理论著作等领域,有独特建树。他以“人生朝露,艺术千秋”的紧迫感,以学贯中西、通古晓今的气质,以锲而不舍、刻苦钻研的探索精神,构筑起中国音乐学的理论丰碑。通过对缪天瑞与温州籍音乐家潘怀素、陈田鹤、邹伯宗、林虹、陈乐书等人的交往,探讨缪天瑞的学术之路,以揭示老一辈音乐家的治学方法和学术精神。

Mr.Miao Tianrui is one of the pioneers of Chinese musical temperament study in the 20th century.At the same time,he has brilliant and unique achievements in the fields of music education,journal publishing,and compilation of dictionaries and works on western music theory.With the outlook on life and the world of“Life is temporal,but art is perpetual”,Mr.Miao kept himself well-versed in both Chinese and western learning and conversant with knowledge of the past and the present.Through assiduous study and unwavering persistence,he has built a theoretical monument in Chinese music academia.This article,a narrative based on the clues of his interactions with Wenzhouese musicians including Pan Huaisu,Chen Tianhe,Zou Bozong,Lin Hong,and Chen Yueshu,attempts to explore Mr.Miao’s path of learning and uphold the rigorous and scientific research and academic attitude of the older generation of musicians.
