As the founder of Marxism,Engels was not only a great revolutionist and thinker,but also a propaganda master with rich experience in running newspapers.He was good at using newspapers to spread and propagate Marxism,inspire and educate the working class,which has important implications for today′s ideological and political education.This article mainly discusses the important enlightenment of Engels′thoughts about the propaganda strategies of newspapers to the ideological and political education in colleges and universities from five aspects:grasping the effective carrier of propaganda work,highlighting the ideological nature of newspaper propagation,fully understanding the objects of propaganda and education,improving the effectiveness and authenticity of propagated content,and using newspapers to carry out criticism and self-criticism of propagandists.
