综合管廊是指建于地下用于容纳两类及以上城市工程管线(城市工程管线:城市范围内为满足生活、生产需要的给水、雨水、污水、再生水、天然气、热力、电力、通信等市政公用管线,不包括工业管线)的构筑物及附属设施。综合管廊在我国早期有“共同沟、综合管沟'共同管道”等多种称谓,在日本称为“共同沟”,在欧美等国家多称为“Urban Utility Tunnel”。
