In the work of The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons,Liu Xie compared Cao Pi and Cao Zhi on purpose.Liu Xie disproved the long-term view of praising Cao Zhi and depreciating Cao Pi which was constructed in the history and then put forward a new perspective.Cao Zhi was not only a scholar,but also a king.Based on the royal conflict in the Qi Dynasty,Liu Xie concerned the political scene of Qi Dynasty,so he depreciated Cao Zhi’literary talents.His purpose was to protect the kings of Qi Dynasty and to stabilize the political situation.His practical consideration was implied in his comments on Cao Pi and Cao Zhi.
