Does Patent Insurance Promote Firm Innovation——Evidence from a Quasi-natural Experiment on the Pharmaceutical Industry in China

基于国家知识产权局近年来相继在多个城市开展的专利执行保险试点,实证探讨保险政策改革对专利密集型产业的创新激励效应及其作用机制。实证结果显示,专利保险政策对于中国医药产业上市公司的研发创新有显著促进作用,公司研发投入与专利产出相对有所增加。

Using the regional patent enforcement insurance pilot policy launched by the Chinese central government in recent years as a quasi-natural experiment,this study empirically explored the innovative incentive effect and mechanism of the reform of patent insurance policy within the innovation-intensive pharmaceutical industry.The empirical results show that the patent insurance policy has had a significant role in promoting the R&D and innovation behaviour of the listed pharmaceutical companies,as manifested in an increase in R&D input and patent output.
