American Agricultural Mission in China:The Earlier Fieldwork of Arthur Wolf Since 1979

中国人类学离不开西方人类学在理论假设的驱使下向中国经验的延伸这一单边的努力,随着国际学术交流的恢复与发展,中国人类学者越来越需要回答中国人类学应该走什么样的社会科学道路。美国人类学者克服重重困难,在推动中国人类学纳入国际化环境的过程中起到不可小觑的作用,而在这些不多的先驱者当中,武雅士和吴素馨投入中国研究协力散发的光与热是最为耀眼的。

Chinese anthropology could not make a great progress without the communication with western anthropology. By contrast, She had to answer what kind of road as social science in the global context that she should choose and create. While some of American anthropologists had overcome so many difficulty to push Chinese anthropology into a new level of international discussion based on Chinese experiences across rural and urban environments in the early period of China open and reform. They are Arthur Wolf and Margery Wolf who had achieved excellent academic performance and did fieldwork for a long time in mainland of China as pioneer of oversea Chinese study.
