“男尊女卑”是近代早期英国社会的主流观念,各种文本中充斥着对女性低劣和卑微的认知,但这并不意味着女性完全是由这些话语定义的。虽然女性的经历是由称之为“家庭”的话语塑造和诠释的,并且很长一段时间遭受了传统认知的约束和偏见,但她们建构了不可被忽视与否定的价值,所以有必要关注近代早期社会是如何构建女性观念的,这样就能更好地理解这个特定时期里性别秩序的限定因素,更新社会性别角色观念,更客观地认识女性和当时的社会性别秩序。

That“men are superior to women”is the mainstream concept in early modern British society.Various texts are full of the cognition of women who are inferior and humble,but this does not mean that women are completely defined by these words.Although women’s experiences are shaped and interpreted by the word called“family”,and for a long time they have suffered from the constraints and prejudices of traditional cognition,they have constructed values that cannot be ignored or denied.It is necessary to pay attention to how the early modern society constructed the concept of women,in that way the limiting factors of gender order in this specific period could be better understood,the concept of gender roles could be updated,and women and the social gender order at that time could be more objectively understood.
