Midway(2019)narrates the battle of Midway,an important turning point in the Pacific War of the Second World War.Under the reproduction of the grand and shocking scene of fierce battle on the sea and in the air,it presents the war in history,the historical characteristics of the war with a balanced attitude of truth and fiction.It can be said that this is the reconstruction of war films by Hollywood in the new century.It looks back to the national culture of American history and constructs the pluralistic values of modern America.This paper explains the American national culture embodied in Midway and the American spirit constantly constructed from the perspective of historical narration,which makes American war films more significant in historical narration--from the beginning to the end,the film is used as a national ideological machine to promote the mainstream values of the United States.
