Comparative Analysis of the Two English Translations of The West Chamber on the Reproduction of Style

从古至今中国的文学名著在世界广为流传,享有盛誉。翻译为世界进行文化交流提供了可能,建立深刻系统的文学翻译批评体系有利于中国文化的传播。基于Leech和Short的文体风格分析模式,从词汇、句子层面分析对比《西厢记》两个译本,尝试理性、客观地展开文学翻译批评,有助于展现翻译的丰富性,领略该著作的文化内涵,探索并提出更多对中国古典文学翻译行之有效的建议。

Chinese literary masterpieces have been widely welcomed in the world literature.Translation provides the possibility for cultural exchange in the world,and the establishment of a profound and systematic literary translation criticism system is conducive to the spread of Chinese culture.On the basis of Leech and Shorts’stylistic style analysis model,this paper compares the two versions of The West Chamber from lexical and syntactic level.The author tries to criticize literary translation rationally and objectively.It is helpful to understand the cultural connotation of the work and to explore more effective suggestions for the translation of Chinese classical literature.
