The educational thought of John Dewey,the modern American educator,was largely formed in the educational experiment of the University of Chicago Elementary school(also known as Dewey school).According to S.Hook,the authoritative figure of Dewey’s research,Dewey’s experiment in university of Chicago elementary school was“the most important bold experiment in the entire history of American education.”This paper intends to conduct the research on Dewey’s school curriculum from the perspectives of its historical and ideological background,Dewey’s criticism of traditional humanism and children’s development curriculum,the construction of new curriculum and its significance and value,and the reflection of new curriculum,so as to inspire readers.
