Poachers have been trained as conservationists in Rwanda Joash Kigera, 38, had been a wildlife poacher for 15 years. He grew up in extreme poverty, having been orphaned at a young age in Rwanda’s violent genocide. He poached mostly gorillas along the Volcanoes National Park in northwest Rwanda and chimpanzees inside Nyungwe National Park at the south tip of the small landlocked country in the Great Rift Valley where the African Great Lakes region and East Africa converge.
